Springtime in the Rockies

I am so ready for Spring weather so I decided to make a card for Spring.

Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso and Whisper White
Stamp Sets. Papillon Potpourri, Perfectly Penned, Petite Petals and the leaves were from
                    Secret Garden.
Ink Pads: Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, and Gumball Green
Accessories: Oval Framlits, Butterfly punches Gumball Green Ribbon

I used the stamp on/off technique for the leaves in the oval.  Also you need to stamp the leaves first and then add the flowers to the background card.  Happy Spring and Stamping to you all!

Guest Card by my daughter, Emily

When Emily saw my Ceramic Tile Card, she wanted to make one that used the same techniques. This is her result.  I love the bird with the pop of red. She had a lot of fun making it using the Backyard Basics Stamp set and Framelits.

She is so creative!

Ceramic Tile Focal Card

I got this idea off of stamptv.com.  It is called Ceramic Tile Affect.

Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, DSP Modern Medley.
Stamp Sets: Backyard Basics, Petite Pairs.
Ink: Early Espresso

First, crinkle your DSP and then sponge it with Early Espresso. Next Stamp your flower and greeting using StazOn.  Score the paper with the flower stamped on it every half inch.  The paper is 2 1/2 X 4 ".

Then, sponge both the scored piece and the greeting  with Early Espresso using a circular motion. This gives it the tile affect.

When putting the card together, pop the floral picture and greeting using dimensionals. Lots of fun to make.

Acrylic Batik

Here are three cards I made using the technique called Acrylic Batik.
Step 1
Stamp cardstock with background image using embossing ink. (The more detailed the image, the better.)

Step 2
Apply clear embossing powder, and heat to set.

Step 3
Dribble and drip acrylic paints onto the embossed panel.

Hint:
Craft paints work great for this technique, since they’re more runny.

Step 4
Using a stiff plastic card, such as a credit card or library card, scrape over the surface of the panel. Change the direction of your strokes, working the paint into the paper, in between the embossed areas. Keep scraping with short strokes in different directions, until your panel is filled in and the embossed design is visible.

Note:
The more you scrape, the more blended your colors will become, and the more noticeable your embossed pattern will be.

Step 5

Complete your card, using the finished panel as a background layer or mixed media base.

This is such a fun technique and it makes beautiful cards.  On the first card to the left, I used only two colors on white cardstock.  On the second card at the top right I used 3 colors on white cardstock.  The bottom card was done on black cardstock and I used only one color.  Give it a try.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

Here is a card that I made for a Swap for one of my Card Clubs.  I got the idea from a video that Jen Jacobsen had done on how to make a shamrock using a heart punch. The stem was made using a large oval punch.  I used Wild Wasabi for the green along with Basic black, and Whisper White cardstock. I added some glimmer paper for a touch of bling. I also added a button for the center. I gave texture to the leaves by running them through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Continuing On

Do you ever struggle, wondering what you are suppose to do with your life.  For the past 6 months, I have been grappling with a decision to stay with my card making and Stampin' Up or give it up. I love making cards.  It makes me happy.  I also love the women I get to spend time with while I'm participating in these activities. I've been praying for direction and peace of mind.

Finally, I have made the decision to keep on doing it.  I feel at peace about it and am looking forward to continuing.  I don't know that I will do it as a business but if I only continue on with it as a hobby, that is OK, too.

Several of us have come together to put on a Creative Expo on April 26th.  It should be lots of fun and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm also looking forward to being more diligent with my blog.
