Screwtape Letters
I can't honestly say I enjoyed the Screwtape Letters. I had to force myself to read them. There was some humor to them but mostly it was a dismal book. It did bring out that the two most effective and powerful tools that Satan can use to undermine us are disappointment and anticlimax. Both tend to bring feelings of hopelessness and doubt. I see it time and again in everyday life. We get all excited about a situation or happening and then it doesn't turn out like we would want and we get discouraged or face despair. Without something greater to put our faith in it would be easy to lose hope. But if you believe that God is in control and has a purpose for us then it is easier to put disappointments behind us and move on.
